German Steam Locomotiv Museum
Deutsches Dampflokomotivmuseum - July 2007

Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, Germany

We pay a visit to the German steam-loc museum in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg every year. We usually stay in
Nürnberg from where it is about one and a half hour by regional train to reach the museum. The museum
houses the only copy left of the BR10, Germany's fastest steam locomotive. This locomotive was put in service
in 1957 at the tail end of the steam era. Although it was as strong as and even faster than the diesel engines, it
was very expensive to operate and sadly within some 10 years had to give in to diesel and electric traction.

DDM ligger i Neuenmarkt-
